I went fishing in Pomme de Terre from Tuesday through thursday when I came home.
The Bass fishing was very good, I caught a total of 9 Bass, only 3 of them were a good size to keep, but I hooked into a fish that had to be at least 7 or 8 pounds! it was HUGE! I was using a plastic crawdad at the surface (weightless, just a hook) and it came up really fast from the deep and took the lure, it really suprised me, I set the hook hard and I had it for a while, but My ultra light pole just couldn't take a fish that big, my line broke. But I did catch a 17 inch Bass. I caught all of my bass on rock piles withing 10 feet of shore. I would throw the lure and let it set and sink about a foot, if a bass hasn't taken it by then, I would twitch the bait a little bit, and then let it set again, then I if a bass hasn't taken it, I would twitch it again, I would do that until it comes to shore, or until I catch a Bass.
I Went to the Pomme de terre river, right behind the Dam. I went to where if you drive across the Dam, going away from the Dam sites, and turn right, then I go the first parking area to the right, there are some stairs that you have to walk down and there is a walkway to the river, I went to the edge of the water and walked right along the river's edge, I walked until you see the big sign above the river that says "no wading, swimming or boating, the water level rises quickly and there is turbulance" or something like that, I went fishing there. If you look on the other side of the river, you will find a cliff and there is some grass on it, if you cast your line right by the grass, you are garanteed a good fish quick. I caught a lot of good bluegill, and my dad caught his first walley, it was only about a foot long. I caught a carp that was about 2 feet long, that was a fight on the ultra light, it looks like it got speared or shot before I caught it, it has a hole in it's head.
But I had a lot of fun, I will send Winlyn a picture of the fish so he can put it on here.
