I love to fish for Bass, I've never caught a small mouth bass, but I catch a lot of large mouth. I also don't catch very big largemouth bass, my biggest one was only 4 pounds, but I catch them all the time.
I like to use spinners and crankbaits for bass, when it's hot, I'll use a 4 inch blue rapala and just pop it at the surface, when the weather is bad, I'll use spinners or deep diving crankbaits.

I just got back from fishing today, I went in the Niangua river and the river in Rader, I didn't get anything in the niangua but I did get 2 bass in the rader river.
The first one was 11 inches and the second was 17 inches. The second one was only 2 pounds, but it put up a good fight. When I first hooked into it, I though I was snagged on a log, but the fish just wasn't moving, then it started to pull away and fight, I was fishing for bluegill at the time and I was using worms at the bottom, I was fishing under the road bridge by the log under it. It was a really good fight because I was using a little 5 foot ultra light rod with 6lb. pound, it didn't pull out much drag, but it was fun.
I was there with my dad and he didn't catch much of anything, a few small bluegill, they both swallowed the hook so he had to keep them, they would have died anyway and why waste fish?
But I was just using nightcrawler on the bottom with a slip sinker, so I could get to where I wanted to, and the fish won't feel the weight of the sinker and they won't let go.
I had a few strikes on little rapalas with bass, but didn't hook any bass, they were just jumping for it, not taking it. But as I've said before, 2 pounds is big for me, so I was happy when I got it.

Your doing better than I am. I have not been out. First it was too hot. Then it was too crowded. Maybe this week I will go up river here on Pomme. They let the water down so the Island by the dam will be well exposed for the fireworks on the 4th. Makes the river a little harder to navigate, though. What we need is rain...

yah, at the rader there is hardly ever anybody there, so it's really easy to fish and get some good fish too, but I bet it's really crouded right now, it's the 4th and it has to be really crouded, I wouldn't want to be there now.
